Wandering the mediaeval streets of Bergerac I was asked to paint a beautiful house in a nearby village. Perched on the broad river, the house was a delight to draw. I usually ask for cake for commissioned work, but was happy to make an exception.

France enjoys so many building styles, this Russian Orthodox cathedral tucked away in the suburbs of Nice, contrasts with the Gothic architecture of the north.

And those Mediterranean colours in the south, perfect.
